66Nearly 50 thousand visitors are expected to travel to Tampa Florida for the Republican National Convention, scheduled on August 27th-30th, 2012.
The convention will be held at the Tampa Bay Times Forum located at 401 Channelside Drive Tampa, Florida.
Tampa is an excellent choice for this event. Downtown Tampa, where the convention will take place has many excellent accommodations, restaurants and sites to see.
In addition to the convention activities, you may find time to tour the area. Below are some recommendations that are close to the convention center:
- Exercise enthusiasts bring your running gear, Bayshore Boulevard is steps away from the convention center and has a 4.5 mile continuous sidewalk and a 3-mile bike lane. Enjoy a scenic view of the Hillsborough river as you fit in your morning or evening run.
- Channelside has a variety of restaurants and other entertainment including a Comedy Club, IMAX theater and Gameworks.

The Florida Aquarium considered one of the best in the country, located at 701 Channelside Drive and walking distance from the Convention Center. A must see if you have the time!
- Cigar enthusiasts, catch a Trolly Ride to Historic Ybor City for a flavor of Tampa 's historic Latin Quarter. Ybor (pronounced eebor) is noted for its cigar manufacturing in the 1880’s, and still is the place to go for a fine selection of cigars as well as fine dining.
